Sky: Children of the light

Celebrate Friendship In Sky

Sky: Children of the Light was a project we took on for Bodega Virtual. The spot needed to take the game's world and drop it straight into live action: fun, cartoon-y, and built to feel like it just showed up on set. Characters, particles, props, UI, all of it had to hold up right next to a real human actor.

The hard part wasn't the animation, honestly. It was getting there. Game assets don't just port over cleanly into a live action composite, so before we could animate a single frame, we had to R&D the whole conversion process: pulling the real assets out of the engine, rebuilding shaders from scratch in Cinema 4D, and making sure everything moved exactly the way it does in-game. That accuracy was the whole point, this needed to read as the game, not our version of it.

The shot we're proudest of is the birthday cake. There's a dynamic camera move where a fully CG, game accurate cake had to sit on that table like it was really there, timed to the actor's performance.
