This one was a rejoin piece built for in-stadium play during New Jersey Devils games, meant to hype fans up as they grabbed refreshments during period breaks and get them fired up for the next one. The concept came from the client: the internal workings of neon lights, particles firing and building up energy to switch the lighting on, with those particles standing in for the fans themselves and the energy they bring to the building. We handled the particle design in Cinema 4D and Mograph, along with spline animations for the under-ice lighting, and handed the finished CG off to the editorial team to supplement their highlight edit.

The fun part was taking something as standard as NHL rink paint lines and making them feel alive, dynamic and pulsing with energy as the buildup hit its peak, then paying it off by cutting back into real hockey action.
